Bans

Platform Bans are bans issued from the platform area: on one community (all its servers) or on all communities (every server on the platform), for a time or for good. They are separate from the per-server bans that community moderators set. Every platform role, including support, can create and lift them (capability: bans).

Ban a player

  1. Open Players and click Ban on the player's row, or open the player and click Ban.
  2. In Ban player, choose Where:
OptionEffect
One communityAll servers of the community you pick in Community (searchable).
All communitiesEvery server on the platform.
  1. Choose For how long: 1 hour, 1 day, 7 days, 30 days, Permanent or Until a date (a date and time in the future). A summary line states the result, for example "Banned from community until date."
  2. Write a Reason (up to 300 characters). It is shown to the player in game.
  3. Click Ban player.

How a ban is enforced

  • The ban is sent to the game servers over RCON as a Rust ban, which also kicks the player if connected.
  • A server that is offline, new, or that joined the community later receives the ban on the next sweep, which runs every minute.
  • A temporary ban lifts itself when it ends, and the player is unbanned in game.
  • Lifting a ban never unbans a player on a server where another active ban still covers them.

The Bans page

Bans lists the bans issued from the platform. Search by name or Steam ID, filter by Community, and switch between Active, History and All. Columns: Player, Where, Reason, Banned, Status (time left, Expired, Lifted) and Lift.

DetailMeaning
"until date"When a temporary ban ends.
"unban pending"The ban was lifted but a game server could not be reached yet; it is retried every minute.
"server ban"A ban set on one server by a community; lift it from that community's player page.

Lift asks for confirmation ("Let player back in? They can join again right away.").
