Platform settings

Platform settings holds what is shared by every community: the container images new servers use, the Discord bot, and the defaults and locks that communities and servers inherit. Only the operator can open it.

The page has two tabs: Infrastructure and Setting defaults. Changes show a bar "N changes" with Discard and Save; leaving with unsaved changes asks for confirmation.

Inheritance: platform, community, server

Most settings follow a chain. The value a server uses is the first one set, looking from the bottom up.

LevelEdited inLock
PlatformThis page, Setting defaultsA platform lock ("Locked for communities") stops every community and server from changing the value.
CommunityThe community's Community settingsA community lock ("Servers can't change this") needs the plan feature Settings locks and stops its servers.
ServerThe server's Settings tabnone

A higher lock always wins. The community pages explain the editor in Settings; the platform editor is the same one with these differences:

Editor label at platform levelMeaning
Changed (instead of Set by community)The value differs from the built-in default.
Use defaultRemoves the platform value so the built-in default applies.
Locked for communitiesThe lock toggle.
