Wipe cleanup
After a wipe, RustyThrones tidies up player data so the new wipe starts fair: kit counters, bundles, tech tree unlocks, stats. Each tidy-up is a cleanup step, and each wipe type has its own list of steps. All steps are on by default.
You choose which steps run in Community settings (for all servers) or in a server's Settings tab (for one server), under the Wipes group. The page shows one grid: steps down the side, wipe types across the top. A dash means the step does not apply to that wipe type.
Choose what gets cleaned up on each kind of wipe.
The steps matrix

| Delete used custom kits | Custom kits claimed at least once are removed. | yes | yes | |
| Revoke custom kit access | Players lose access to their custom kits. | yes | ||

| Clear tracked permissions | Stored Oxide groups and permissions are forgotten. | yes | ||
| Clear player stats | This server's stats for the wipe are cleared. | yes | ||
| Delete all custom kits | Every custom kit, used or not. | yes | ||
| Reset referral kits | Players earn referral kits again. | yes | ||

Column meanings: Map wipe (new map, blueprints kept), Full wipe (map and blueprints), Force wipe (monthly Rust update).
WARNING
Switching a step off means that data is kept across the wipe. Turning off Clear active bundles or Reset tech tree lets players keep what they bought; turning off Reset kit usage stops kits refreshing.
Where the value comes from
Every setting resolves through three levels, from the most general to the most specific:
- RustyThrones default (platform): all steps on.
- Community value, set in Community settings.
- Server value, set in the server's Settings tab.
The rule: platform lock beats community lock beats server value beats community value beats platform value. A lock pins a value so lower levels cannot change it:
| Lock | Set by | Effect |
|---|---|---|
| "Locked by RustyThrones" | Platform | Neither the community nor its servers can change it. |
| "Servers can't change this" (community lock) | You, in Community settings | Servers follow your community value. Needs the Settings locks plan feature (Community and Pro plans). |
See Settings for the editor, Use default / Use community value and Clear overrides.
Troubleshooting
| Problem | Fix |
|---|---|
| A step has no effect on one server | The server may have its own override (the community page shows "Overridden on N servers"); use Clear overrides. |
| Cannot change a step | "Locked by RustyThrones" or "Locked by your community settings". |
| Data not cleaned after a wipe | Check the wipe's job on the server dashboard and the Jobs page for a failed step. |
