Getting started
How to sign in, create a community and reach your first running server.
Open the panel and choose a login:
| Button | When it shows |
|---|---|
| Continue with Steam | Always. |
| Continue with Discord | When the platform has Discord login enabled. |
| Email me a link | When email login is enabled. You get a one-time link that expires in 15 minutes. |
The panel stores your login provider's id, display name, avatar and, if you give one, your email. Never a password. A Steam, Discord and email login can all point at the same account: link more logins on your account page (Linked logins; you cannot unlink the last one).
Sessions last 7 days of activity and end at the latest after 30 days. Sign out ends the current session, and signing out everywhere ends all of them.
If you see "This login has no access to the panel", the account is not a member of any community: ask an owner for an invite or create your own community.
Create a community
If the platform is open for sign-ups, a new account opens Name your community (3 steps).
Step 1: Name your community
| Field | Rule |
|---|---|
| Community name | At least 2 characters. Shown to players and your team; you can rename it later in Community settings. |
| Address | The short name used in your panel address (/t/<address>) and your free website address. 3 to 31 characters, lowercase letters, digits and single hyphens, starting and ending with a letter or digit. Reserved words and a short list of blocked words are refused; the page shows live "available / taken / reserved" feedback and up to 3 suggestions. |
| Billing email | A valid email. It is verified before any invoice is sent. |
| Invite code | Only while sign-ups are invite-only. Format RT-XXXX-XXXX-XXXX. |
| Terms of Service | You must accept them. |
Limits: one account can own at most 3 communities by default (the platform can raise it). At most 5 communities per IP address per day can be created.
Step 2: Choose a plan
Start free. You can upgrade anytime from Plan and billing. The cards show quotas and features of each plan.
Step 3: Add your first server
Two cards:
- Attach your server (RCON): keep your own host, RustyThrones connects over RCON. See Attach a server.
- Hosted by RustyThrones: request a server we run for you. See Hosted servers. Available when your plan includes hosted servers.
You can Skip for now.
The Overview
Overview is your landing page. It lists your servers (status, players, next wipe, capabilities, running job) and updates live.
| Block | What it shows |
|---|---|
| Get started | Checklist of 3 items: Add a server, Invite a teammate, Review community settings (and Connect Discord, marked coming soon). Dismiss it with the close button. |
| Needs attention | Failed jobs from the last 24 hours (with Retry), unreachable RCON or agent, plugin updates waiting for approval, plan limits exceeded, failed payments or a restricted plan. |
| Servers | One card per server with status, players, next wipe and a one-line capability summary ("temporarily limited" during an outage). |
| Recent activity | The last 5 entries of the Activity log, if your role can read it. |
Switch community
If you belong to several communities, the community picker in the top bar switches between them. The panel remembers the last one.
Troubleshooting
| Problem | Fix |
|---|---|
| "New communities aren't open yet" | Sign-ups are closed; ask for an invite code. |
| Address "taken" or "reserved" | Pick another or one of the suggestions. |
| "You already own N communities" | The per-account limit was reached; ask the platform team. |
| Link email never arrives | Email login sends one link per request, 5 per hour per address. Check spam. |
