Panel FAQ

Answers for community owners, admins and moderators who use the panel (panel.rustythrones.com). Each answer links to the full page of the Community admin guide.

Getting started and signup codes

How do I sign in to the panel?

With your Steam account (Continue with Steam). Steam is currently the only login in use; a Steam, Discord and email login can all point to the same account once enabled. Sessions last 7 days of activity and end after 30 days at the latest. See Getting started.

How do I create a community?

Sign in, then follow Name your community: a community name, an address, a billing email, a signup code and the terms. After that you choose a plan (start free) and add your first server. See Getting started.

I need a signup code. Where do I get one?

Signup is currently invite-only: creating a community needs a signup code of the form RT-XXXX-XXXX-XXXX. Ask the RustyThrones team on Discord. A code is single-use by default, expires if the team set an expiry, and is consumed only when your community is actually created. See Getting started.

"This invite code is not valid"

The code is wrong, already used up, expired or revoked. Check you typed it fully (the RT- prefix and dashes are optional) and ask for a new code.

How many communities can I own?

Up to 3 per account by default; the platform team can raise it. At most 5 communities per network address can be created per day. See Getting started.

What is the "address" of my community?

The short name in your panel address and your free website address, for example my-clan.rustythrones.com. It is 3 to 31 characters (lowercase letters, digits and single hyphens), and the form shows live feedback with suggestions. See Getting started and Player site.

What is the "Get started" checklist?

Three items on the Overview: Add a server, Invite a teammate and Review community settings. Dismiss it with the close button. See Getting started.

Plans and billing

Is there a free plan?

Yes, always. Free lets you attach 1 server with 2 team members and 3 active quests, keeps 30 days of activity history, and includes attaching your own servers. See Plan and billing.

What do the paid plans cost and include?

Community is 9 EUR per month or 90 EUR per year (3 attached servers, 5 members, 20 active quests, settings locks and the player store). Pro is 29 EUR per month or 290 EUR per year (10 attached servers, 1 hosted server, 15 members, unlimited quests, plus custom domains). See Plan and billing.

Can I buy a paid plan today?

Platform billing is currently off: paid plans are shown with their list prices, but plan changes are handled by the platform team for now ("Billing opens soon"). Ask on Discord if you need the store or hosted servers before billing opens. See Plan and billing.

Can I change plans later? What happens to my data?

Yes, from Plan & billing (owner only). Upgrades apply right away. After a downgrade nothing is deleted, but you cannot add more until you are back under the limits. A cancelled plan runs to the end of the paid period, then the community moves to Free. See Plan and billing.

What happens if a payment fails?

You are warned by email and on the Overview, with a 14-day grace period. After that the plan is restricted (no invites, new attached servers or hosted requests) until the payment is fixed. Existing servers keep running and nothing is deleted. See Plan and billing.

Attach or hosted

What is the difference between attaching and hosted?

Attach: you keep your own host and RustyThrones connects over RCON only. Hosted: RustyThrones runs the server for you and can reach the machine. See Attach a server and Hosted servers.

What can an attached server do?

Live console, player list, kick/ban/teleport, chat, announcements, convars, give items, restart and stop, the player website, quests, leaderboards, Discord, restart schedules, store extras (direct drop, supply signal), basic stats and map seed and size. See Attach a server.

What needs Oxide or the RustyThrones plugin on an attached server?

Oxide permissions need Oxide/uMod or Carbon. Store kits need Oxide or Carbon and the RustyThrones plugin. Full player stats and map renders need the RustyThrones plugin. The attach wizard detects what you have and lists what to install. See Attach a server.

What do I only get with a hosted server?

Everything that needs the machine: start, automated wipes and wipe schedules, game updates, the file manager, server config, and the plugin catalog with automatic rollback. On an attached server those entries show "Available on servers hosted by RustyThrones". See Hosted servers and Servers.

How do I get a hosted server?

On the Pro plan (it includes 1 hosted server), request one under Servers > New server > Request a hosted server: a name, a size (Small 6 GB / about 50 players, Medium 8 GB / about 100, Large 12 GB / about 200) and notes. Hosted servers are currently by request: the platform team approves each one. See Hosted servers.

What does attaching need?

The server address, its RCON port and RCON password, with WebRCON enabled (+rcon.web 1). Allow the platform's connection addresses shown by the wizard in your firewall. The connection is tested before saving. See Attach a server.

Wipes

Can I schedule wipes?

On a hosted server, yes: map, full and force wipes from schedules (daily, weekly, bi-weekly, monthly or cron, always UTC) or Wipe now. A built-in Monthly Force Wipe runs on the first Thursday at 18:00 UTC. See Wipes and schedules.

Do my players lose progress at a wipe?

No: gems, journey levels, season points and profiles live on the platform. What resets (kit usage, bundles, tech tree unlocks, wipe stats) is set per wipe type by the cleanup steps you control. See Wipe cleanup.

Can players vote for the next map?

Yes, with Discord connected: set an occurrence to Map Vote with 2 to 4 prepared maps and turn on Map Voting in the server's Discord tab. See Wipes and schedules.

Plugins

Which plugins can I install?

Approved catalog plugins only. The RustyThrones team reviews every plugin and release, so what you install is verified and can be rolled back. Browse them under a hosted server's Plugins > Browse catalog. See Plugins.

A plugin I need is not in the catalog

Ask the platform team on Discord: they can add and list it. Communities cannot upload plugin files themselves. See Plugins.

What if a plugin breaks my server?

Every install is verified: if the plugin does not load within 60 seconds, the previous version is restored automatically and the failed release is blocked until you pick another one or click Retry. See Plugins.

What does "Pinned" mean?

You (or a Previous version action) chose a release other than the latest. The plugin stays on it and platform rollouts skip it. Choose the latest release to unpin. See Plugins.

How do plugin updates reach my servers?

The platform releases an approved update by rollout: one canary server first, then the others one by one after a soak time (30 minutes by default). You can also choose a version yourself, or hold updates until the next wipe. See Plugins.

Store and economy

What do I need to open my store?

A plan with the Player store feature, completed Legal details and a Stripe account that can take charges (Payouts). Until both are done, checkout answers "store not open yet". See Payouts.

How do my players pay, and how do I get paid?

Players pay by card through Stripe on your website. Money goes straight to your own Stripe account, and the platform keeps a percentage of each sale shown on the Payouts page. See Payouts.

Can I set my own prices?

Yes for what you sell: monthly passes, gem packs, direct drops, supply signals, bundles and unlock fees for tech trees. Item gem prices are one platform-wide formula. See Player plans and store prices and Tech tree and unlock pricing.

How do kits and bundles work?

A kit is a loadout players claim in game with /kit; a bundle groups kits and is what players buy with gems. Kits are delivered to your platform servers. See Kits and bundles.

What are quests, the journey and seasons?

Quests are goals you create (daily, weekly, per wipe, event). The 200-level journey and seasons are built in; you tune the rewards. Progress is read from the RustyThrones stats plugin. See Quests and Journey and seasons.

What are referrals?

Players invite friends by link and both earn gems and a kit when the friend plays long enough (120 minutes and 500/1,000 gems by default). You set the rewards. See Referrals.

Website and domains

Does my community get a website?

Yes. Every community gets a player website with store, servers, maps, quests, leaderboards and seasons, in your colours and logo, at a free address <address>.rustythrones.com. It is available now. See Player site.

Can I use my own domain?

On the Pro plan you can add up to 2 custom domains. Create a TXT record (ownership) plus a CNAME to sites.rustythrones.com for a subdomain like play.yourclan.com, or A records to the IPs shown in the panel for a root domain like yourclan.com; on Cloudflare use DNS only. Then Check now: HTTPS is issued automatically. Step by step: Use your own domain.

Can I change the text of my Home and About pages?

Yes: Player site → Pages. Edit the tagline, introduction, feature cards, call to action, your story, cards, highlights and server rules; Reset to default goes back. See Player site.

How do I get listed on the RustyThrones landing page?

On Player site switch on List my community on RustyThrones. The panel landing page then shows your name, logo, tagline, website, Discord and live player count. You can switch it off at any time. See Player site.

Team and roles

What roles are there?

Viewer (read only), Moderator (players, chat, console output), Admin (servers, store, site) and Owner (billing, ownership, deleting). Each includes the one before. See the role table.

How do I invite a teammate?

Members > Invite: pick a role, optionally an email, and share the link. Invites last 7 days and are single-use; a pending invite holds a seat of your plan (Free 2 members, Community 5, Pro 15). See Members.

Can I transfer ownership?

Ownership moves by transfer to an admin of the community, with a fresh sign-in; there is no transfer button on the Members page at the moment. See Members.

Where can I see what my team did?

Activity is the audit log of every change made through the panel, kept for 30 days on Free, 90 on Community and 365 on Pro. Actions by platform support carry a Support tag. See Activity.

Discord

How do I connect Discord?

Community > Discord > Connect Discord (you need Manage Server on your Discord server). Then choose channels for server info, wipe announcements, map votes and reports, map supporter roles, and set the link reward. See Discord.

Why are roles not given to players?

The bot role must be above the mapped roles and have Manage Roles, and the player must have linked Discord on your website. See Discord.

Is there a place to ask the RustyThrones team for help?

Yes: the platform Discord has a staff-only support area. Link your Discord under Account > Platform support, join with the invite shown there, and your owner/admin or moderator role is given automatically.

Troubleshooting

Why is a menu entry locked?

Your plan lacks the feature (for example Player store), your role is too low, or the server is attached and the action needs a hosted server. The tooltip says which. See Plan and billing.

My attach test keeps failing

Check the firewall allows the platform's addresses shown in the wizard, the RCON port and password, and that WebRCON is on. See Attach a server.

An install stays "Queued"

The server must be online and its agent reachable; the worker runs within minutes. See Plugins and Jobs.

Players cannot pay

Your store is not open yet: finish Legal details and Payouts, and check your plan has the Player store feature.
